The Business of Healing:

A Private Practice Workshop for Counsellors and Mental Health Professionals

Meet your Facilitator

Tyne Buchy, RCC-ACS, is the founder of Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective Ltd. and Reflect & Rise Wellness Ltd., and a clinician, educator, and business consultant with over six years of experience in private practice. She brings a strong blend of clinical depth and entrepreneurial experience to her work, supporting both client care and the development of sustainable, values-driven counselling practices. Alongside her private practice work, Tyne has extensive experience in clinical supervision and supporting clinicians in building confidence, clarity, and sustainability in their professional roles. In addition to her clinical work, Tyne offers business consultation for therapists and has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to build and grow a private practice in today’s mental health landscape. Her work in this space is informed by her own experience founding and operating two separate companies—Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, a growing group practice, and Reflect & Rise Wellness Ltd., which focuses on wellness retreats and experiential healing spaces. Since 2020, Tyne has also been actively teaching and facilitating workshops for clinicians across British Columbia, with a strong focus on bridging clinical skill with real-world practice. In her Business of Healing workshop, she draws on both her clinical and business experience to help clinicians better understand how to build sustainable practices that align with their values, clinical strengths, and long-term goals. Tyne is known for her warm, direct, and practical teaching style, creating space for honest conversation about the realities of private practice. Her goal is to support clinicians in building practices that are not only clinically sound, but also sustainable, intentional, and aligned with the kind of work they want to do in the world.

This workshop was created in response to a need frequently expressed by interns and early-career clinicians as they begin exploring private practice. While clinical training programs provide strong foundational skills in therapy, many clinicians find that the business side of practice—such as structure, sustainability, and client flow—is often not fully covered in formal education.

The Business of Healing workshop is designed to bridge that gap by offering practical guidance, real-world insights, and actionable strategies for building a private practice that is both successful and sustainable. It supports clinicians who are newly entering the field, as well as those considering the transition into private practice, by helping them better understand the operational, financial, and organizational aspects of running a business.

Through a blend of lived experience, clinical context, and practical tools, this workshop offers honest feedback, key “behind the scenes” considerations, and simple strategies that can help reduce overwhelm and increase clarity when starting out. The goal is to demystify private practice and support clinicians in building a practice that aligns with their values, clinical identity, and long-term professional goals.

This workshop is for new therapeutic clinicians and practicum students or anyone who is looking to transition into private practice
