About Me

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my page. Choosing a clinical counsellor is a deeply personal and important decision. To help you determine if I’m the right fit for your needs, I’d like to share a bit about my background and approach as a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. This led me to work in a clinical rehabilitation setting, where I supported clients one-on-one and in group contexts. My work involved individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, serious physical injuries, and those pursuing general health goals. I later specialized in cancer rehabilitation, working with clients undergoing cancer treatment or in remission.

During this time, I noticed a consistent theme: while clients were addressing their physical health, many were also silently coping with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I came to realize that my ability to support them was limited to the physical realm—and I felt called to offer more. This realization ultimately inspired my transition into the mental health field, where I could provide more comprehensive care and support.

I began to recognize that while I could support my clients’ physical recovery, my ability to address their emotional and psychological needs was limited—and often not enough to support their full return to wellness. This realization sparked a deep interest in exploring a more impactful way to help. From there, I began a new journey into the field of mental health. I went on to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) through Yorkville University and became a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

As a therapist, I am passionate about increasing access to mental health care and reducing the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking support. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to achieve their therapeutic goals and in creating a safe, supportive, and empowering relationship—one that fosters meaningful change and personal growth. I am also deeply passionate about mentoring, teaching, and supervising new graduate therapists. I believe strongly in giving back to the profession by supporting the growth and development of emerging clinicians. By fostering their learning and professional confidence, we help ensure the delivery of ethical, compassionate, and effective care across the field of mental health.

About my Private Practice

My private practice follows an eclectic approach, meaning I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations to provide the most effective and personalized care for each client. The primary modalities I use or integrate into my work include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Ego-States Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Experiential Therapy/Unity Theory, Mindfulness-Based Strategies, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I also incorporate tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Regardless of the approach, I work from a trauma-informed lens, ensuring sensitivity to each client’s unique experiences and needs.

I work with adults (19+) who are navigating a wide range of mental health concerns, including—but not limited to—depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, eating disorders and personality disorders. I offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy to support clients in various areas of their lives.

As a Clinical Counsellor, I am a strong advocate for reducing the barriers to accessing mental health care—particularly the stigma and financial limitations that often prevent individuals from seeking support. To reflect this commitment, I offer a limited number of low-barrier, sliding-scale spots to make therapy more accessible to those in need.

Areas of Specialization

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Personality Disorders At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals navigating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and other personality disorders. These conditions can involve intense emotions, unstable relationships, identity challenges, and patterns of coping shaped by early experiences or trauma. Rather than focusing solely on labels, we take a trauma-informed, individualized approach to help clients understand how their experiences and emotional patterns impact daily life and relationships. Our therapists integrate EMDR Therapy, Ego States Therapy, and Attachment and Relational approaches to help clients regulate emotions, build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and create healthier relational patterns. Therapy focuses on developing resilience, self-compassion, and emotional stability, empowering clients to move beyond old coping strategies and reconnect with their authentic selves. Whether working with BPD, complex emotional patterns, or other personality-related challenges, our goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where clients can heal, grow, and develop healthier connections with themselves and others.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we specialize in helping individuals recover from the deep emotional and psychological impact of narcissistic abuse. These relationships—whether with a partner, parent, friend, or colleague—can leave lasting effects such as self-doubt, confusion, anxiety, and loss of self-trust. Through trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies such as EMDR, Ego States Therapy, and Attachment and Relational Therapy, we support clients in rebuilding self-worth, restoring emotional safety, and understanding the dynamics of manipulation and control. Therapy focuses on healing the nervous system, re-establishing boundaries, and reconnecting with your authentic self after gaslighting, invalidation, or emotional trauma. Our goal is to help survivors move from survival and self-protection to confidence, clarity, and empowerment, creating space for healthier relationships and a renewed sense of identity.

Developmental and Attachment Trauma At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide compassionate support for individuals healing from developmental and attachment trauma—the lasting effects of unmet emotional needs, early instability, or inconsistent caregiving during childhood. These early experiences can deeply shape how we connect, trust, and feel safe in relationships as adults. Our trauma-informed therapists integrate Attachment and Relational Therapy, EMDR, and Ego States Therapy to help clients understand their attachment patterns, regulate the nervous system, and rebuild a secure sense of self and connection. Together, we explore how early experiences continue to influence emotional reactions and relationship dynamics, fostering healing through safety, attunement, and self-compassion. Healing developmental and attachment trauma involves more than understanding the past—it’s about creating new emotional experiences of safety, trust, and belonging. Through this process, clients learn to form healthier relationships, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with their authentic selves.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide specialized care for individuals living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). These conditions can develop after a single traumatic event or repeated exposure to trauma, such as chronic stress, emotional neglect, or relational abuse. Symptoms often include flashbacks, emotional numbing, hypervigilance, difficulty trusting others, and a constant sense of threat or anxiety. Our trauma-informed therapists use EMDR Therapy, Ego States Therapy, and Attachment and Relational approaches to help clients reprocess traumatic memories, regulate the nervous system, and restore a sense of safety and control. We work collaboratively to build grounding skills, reduce distress, and foster resilience, allowing the body and mind to begin healing from chronic survival responses. Whether you are struggling with trauma from the past or ongoing effects of complex relational experiences, therapy can help you reclaim your sense of stability, strengthen emotional boundaries, and reconnect with your inner calm and confidence. Healing is possible—and it begins with safety, compassion, and connection.

Eating Disorders At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we offer compassionate, trauma-informed support for individuals struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating patterns. We understand that these challenges are not simply about food or body image—they often emerge as ways to cope with emotional pain, trauma, or a need for control and safety. Our therapeutic approach focuses on helping clients rebuild a healthy relationship with their body, emotions, and sense of self. Using Attachment and Relational Therapy, EMDR, and Ego States Therapy, we address the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contribute to eating disorders, including shame, perfectionism, self-criticism, and unmet attachment needs. Healing involves more than changing behaviors—it’s about restoring connection, compassion, and trust in your body. We work collaboratively to help clients develop emotional regulation skills, improve body image, and build resilience in recovery. Every step is guided by empathy, safety, and respect for each person’s unique journey toward healing and wholeness.

Bipolar Disorder At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals living with Bipolar Disorder. This condition involves cycles of emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression) that can impact mood, energy, relationships, and daily functioning. We understand that these shifts can feel unpredictable and exhausting, and that healing involves more than just symptom management—it’s about building stability, understanding, and self-compassion. Our trauma-informed therapists use approaches such as Attachment and Relational Therapy, EMDR, and Ego States Therapy to help clients regulate emotions, identify triggers, and strengthen coping skills. Therapy focuses on reducing shame, improving self-awareness, and fostering balance through a holistic lens that honors each person’s experience. By addressing the emotional and relational aspects of bipolar disorder—alongside medical or psychiatric care when appropriate—we help clients create greater emotional stability, resilience, and connection in their daily lives. Our goal is to support individuals in navigating bipolar disorder with understanding, confidence, and hope.

Depression and Anxiety At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we offer compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals experiencing depression and anxiety. These conditions can appear as persistent sadness, loss of motivation, intrusive thoughts, panic, or constant worry, often leaving individuals feeling disconnected from themselves and others. We recognize that depression and anxiety are not signs of weakness—they are signals of distress in the nervous system that deserve understanding, care, and healing. Our trauma-informed therapists use approaches such as EMDR Therapy, Attachment and Relational Therapy, and Ego States Therapy to help clients regulate emotions, process underlying experiences, and build lasting resilience. We focus on helping you reconnect with your sense of hope, calm, and self-compassion while developing tools to manage stress and emotional overwhelm. Therapy provides a safe space to explore root causes rather than symptoms, integrating both mind and body to promote balance and healing. Whether your depression or anxiety stems from trauma, stress, or life transitions, we work collaboratively to help you find clarity, confidence, and renewed emotional wellbeing.

Acute Traumatic Events At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide specialized, trauma-informed support for individuals who have experienced acute traumatic events—sudden or overwhelming situations that disrupt a sense of safety and control. These may include accidents, medical emergencies, assaults, natural disasters, or witnessing violence, and they can leave lasting emotional and physical effects long after the event has passed. Our therapists are trained in EMDR Therapy, Ego States Therapy, and Attachment and Relational approaches to help clients process traumatic memories, regulate the nervous system, and restore a sense of stability and safety. We focus on both immediate symptom relief and long-term healing, helping individuals reduce hypervigilance, flashbacks, and emotional numbing while strengthening coping skills and resilience. Through therapy, clients learn to integrate the experience without being defined by it, reconnecting with their sense of control, confidence, and calm. Healing from acute trauma involves more than forgetting—it’s about restoring balance, safety, and trust in yourself and the world around you.

Couples and Family Therapy At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we offer Couples and Family Therapy designed to help partners and families improve communication, strengthen connection, and resolve conflict in healthy, supportive ways. Relationships are at the core of human wellbeing, and when they become strained by stress, miscommunication, or unresolved emotional wounds, it can deeply affect everyone involved. Our therapists use Attachment and Relational Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed approaches to help individuals, couples, and families understand emotional patterns, repair trust, and create secure, lasting bonds. We provide a safe, collaborative space where each person can feel heard, understood, and respected while learning practical tools for empathy, boundary-setting, and emotional regulation. Whether you are navigating relationship transitions, parenting challenges, or recovery from conflict and disconnection, therapy can help you rebuild understanding and closeness. Our goal is to help families and couples move from reactivity to connection—creating a foundation of communication, compassion, and resilience that strengthens every relationship.

Clinical Supervision At Tyne Buchy Counselling Collective, we provide clinical supervision for therapists, counsellors, and mental health professionals seeking guidance, professional development, and reflective support. Supervision is a vital part of ethical, effective practice—it helps clinicians enhance skills, navigate complex cases, and maintain personal and professional wellbeing while ensuring clients receive the highest quality of care. Our supervision approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and individualized, drawing on evidence-based practices including attachment theory, relational approaches, and trauma-focused interventions. We support supervisees in developing clinical confidence, ethical decision-making, and self-reflection, while exploring areas such as complex trauma, personality disorders, and relational dynamics within their caseloads. Whether you are an early-career counsellor or an experienced clinician seeking professional growth, our supervision provides a safe and supportive space for learning, reflection, and skill development—promoting both personal growth and better outcomes for the clients you serve. Experience

During my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program, I completed my practicum at Moving Forward Family Services in Surrey, BC. There, I had the opportunity to co-facilitate group therapy for at-risk and underserved youth in an outreach setting. My responsibilities included conducting phone and in-person intakes, suicide risk assessments, and administering self-report measures for anxiety and depression. I also provided individual and family counselling. My clinical experience at Moving Forward exposed me to a wide range of clients—including children, youth, and adults—from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. I worked with individuals navigating challenges such as divorce, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and severe psychiatric conditions. The severity of client needs varied significantly, from mild depressive episodes to individuals recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric care. I worked closely with my supervisor throughout this placement and continue to be affiliated with the organization today.

In 2019, I opened a small clinic in Port Moody, BC, where I saw clients both privately and through my continued partnership with Moving Forward. This transition allowed me to deepen my clinical focus, particularly in supporting clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and those experiencing complex trauma. I also gained extensive experience working with survivors of narcissistic and psychological abuse—an area of work I remain passionate about.

In 2021, I relocated my private practice to the North Okanagan, where I now offer both in-person and telehealth services. I continue to collaborate with organizations such as Moving Forward Family Services, enabling me to provide accessible, low-cost counselling services to clients with financial barriers.

Since moving to the North Okanagan in 2021, I have continued to teach courses to other clinicians and interns, including The Business of Healing: A Private Practice Workshop, Introduction to Working with Trauma Survivors: A Parts and Self-Compassion Approach and Working With Psychological Abuse Survivors. In 2025, I became an Approved Clinical Supervisor with BCACC and have supervised other counsellors and interns across British Columbia.

In 2025, I was nominated for the BCACC Practitioner's Award.
