About Me

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my page. Choosing a clinical counsellor is a deeply personal and important decision. To help you determine if I’m the right fit for your needs, I’d like to share a bit about my background and approach as a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. This led me to work in a clinical rehabilitation setting, where I supported clients one-on-one and in group contexts. My work involved individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, serious physical injuries, and those pursuing general health goals. I later specialized in cancer rehabilitation, working with clients undergoing cancer treatment or in remission.

During this time, I noticed a consistent theme: while clients were addressing their physical health, many were also silently coping with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I came to realize that my ability to support them was limited to the physical realm—and I felt called to offer more. This realization ultimately inspired my transition into the mental health field, where I could provide more comprehensive care and support.

I began to recognize that while I could support my clients’ physical recovery, my ability to address their emotional and psychological needs was limited—and often not enough to support their full return to wellness. This realization sparked a deep interest in exploring a more impactful way to help. From there, I began a new journey into the field of mental health. I went on to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) through Yorkville University and became a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

As a therapist, I am passionate about increasing access to mental health care and reducing the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking support. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to achieve their therapeutic goals and in creating a safe, supportive, and empowering relationship—one that fosters meaningful change and personal growth. I am also deeply passionate about mentoring, teaching, and supervising new graduate therapists. I believe strongly in giving back to the profession by supporting the growth and development of emerging clinicians. By fostering their learning and professional confidence, we help ensure the delivery of ethical, compassionate, and effective care across the field of mental health.

About my Private Practice

My private practice follows an eclectic approach, meaning I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations to provide the most effective and personalized care for each client. The primary modalities I use or integrate into my work include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Ego-States Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Experiential Therapy/Unity Theory, Mindfulness-Based Strategies, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I also incorporate tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Regardless of the approach, I work from a trauma-informed lens, ensuring sensitivity to each client’s unique experiences and needs.

I work with adults (19+) who are navigating a wide range of mental health concerns, including—but not limited to—depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, eating disorders and personality disorders. I offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy to support clients in various areas of their lives.

As a Clinical Counsellor, I am a strong advocate for reducing the barriers to accessing mental health care—particularly the stigma and financial limitations that often prevent individuals from seeking support. To reflect this commitment, I offer a limited number of low-barrier, sliding-scale spots to make therapy more accessible to those in need.

Experience

During my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program, I completed my practicum at Moving Forward Family Services in Surrey, BC. There, I had the opportunity to co-facilitate group therapy for at-risk and underserved youth in an outreach setting. My responsibilities included conducting phone and in-person intakes, suicide risk assessments, and administering self-report measures for anxiety and depression. I also provided individual and family counselling. My clinical experience at Moving Forward exposed me to a wide range of clients—including children, youth, and adults—from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. I worked with individuals navigating challenges such as divorce, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and severe psychiatric conditions. The severity of client needs varied significantly, from mild depressive episodes to individuals recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric care. I worked closely with my supervisor throughout this placement and continue to be affiliated with the organization today.

In 2019, I opened a small clinic in Port Moody, BC, where I saw clients both privately and through my continued partnership with Moving Forward. This transition allowed me to deepen my clinical focus, particularly in supporting clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and those experiencing complex trauma. I also gained extensive experience working with survivors of narcissistic and psychological abuse—an area of work I remain passionate about.

In 2021, I relocated my private practice to the North Okanagan, where I now offer both in-person and telehealth services. I continue to collaborate with organizations such as Moving Forward Family Services, enabling me to provide accessible, low-cost counselling services to clients with financial barriers.

Since moving to the North Okanagan in 2021, I have continued to teach courses to other clinicians and interns, including The Business of Healing: A Private Practice Workshop, Introduction to Working with Trauma Survivors: A Parts and Self-Compassion Approach and Working With Psychological Abuse Survivors. In 2025, I became an Approved Clinical Supervisor with BCACC and have supervised other counsellors and interns across British Columbia.

In 2025, I was nominated for the BCACC Practitioner's Award.
